First Diary Entry

From The Baker’s Chest, Hartburn, Northumberland, NE61 4JB, UK

1st January 2011

Travel boxes ordered, passport photos taken and travel diaries made, we prepare to set off on our adventure of a lifetime - ten of us from the hills and valleys of Northumberland - one to South America via Paris, some to Canada and USA, others to Australia, New Zealand, Thailand and Afghanistan.

Eagerly we step into the unknown, wondering where our journey will take us - all hoping to be reunited in Hartburn in time to celebrate Christmas 2011.

The overnight temperature recorded -20oC, a record low. We leave at an auspicious time, just after the winter solstice with its lunar eclipse (the first in 370 years) from a landscape of glinting snow, white lace trees and sparkling icicles.

What will our future hold?.
